Community Foundation of Wabash County names executive director

North Manchester, Ind. – Sally J. Benson, CFRE, is beginning her new role as executive director of the Community Foundation of Wabash County. Benson is a seasoned nonprofit management professional who brings experience as a fundraiser with a variety of organizations in Illinois and Northwest Indiana to her new post. 

Benson’s career has focused on asset development for nonprofit organizations such as, The American College of Surgeons, Illinois College of Optometry, American Health Information Management Association, Unity Foundation of LaPorte County. and Children’s Home & Aid Society of Illinois.  She has served on many non profit boards including Chicago Council on Planned Giving, Association of Fund Raising Professionals, Chicago Chapter, and Drifting Dunes Girl Scout Council in Northwest Indiana. 

According to Foundation Board of Directors’ President Bonnie Ingraham, the board selected Benson to lead the Foundation based on her experience and her proven track record in achieving fundraising results in annual giving, planned giving, corporate giving and endowment giving. 

“Sally understands the Foundation’s mission and how nonprofits operate,” Ingraham says, “She is well qualified to lead the Foundation during these challenging times.” 

Benson obtained both her BA and Master’s Degree from Purdue University.  She attended John Marshall Law School for courses in Estate Planning. Benson, a certified fundraising executive (CFRE), is relocating to Wabash County.  

“I’m thrilled to join the staff at the Community Foundation of Wabash County and look forward to working with the board of directors to grow the endowment in order to benefit the residents of Wabash County.”
