Ways to give

There are many options when considering a gift to the Community Foundation. Our staff is prepared to work with you and your advisors to create a charitable plan that takes your goals and needs into full consideration.

The most common gift options include:

Cash – the simplest type of charitable gift. Because of the tax deduction the net cost to donors can be much less than the actual amount of the gift. ONLINE DONATIONS NOW ACCEPTED!

Securities and real estate – Donors receive an income-tax deduction for the full market value of the gift and may avoid potential tax for capital gain.

Life Insurance – Funds from a life insurance policy can create a new endowment fund or be added to any existing fund, permitting the donor to make a substantial gift for a relatively modest outlay.

Charitable Gift Annuity – Donors make a gift to the Community Foundation and the Foundation guarantees to make annuity payments to the donor in a fixed amount. The donor can claim a charitable deduction for the portion of the gift that is recognized as charitable and a portion of each annuity payment is income-tax free.

Charitable Remainder Trust – Like a Charitable Gift Annuity, it provides income to the beneficiary. The income may vary from year to year as the trust grows. It is similar to other types of trusts, except the Community Foundation receives the remainder interest and uses it to address charitable causes the donor chooses. The trust may be created to become effective during life or at death.

Bequest – Gifts from wills enable donors to make significant gifts that they may not have been able to make during their life. A gift from a will can establish a new fund or can be added to an existing fund. Click here for sample bequest language.
